Originally constructed in the 1920s and substantially redeveloped in the 1960s, this iconic former Woolworths building was transformed into student accommodation for the newly formed NMITE university campus. This major redevelopment was both challenging and complex and involved significant structural intervention in order to allow the inclusion of new floor levels to maximise the use of the available building. The project also included a modern contemporary façade fronting West Street and a series of carefully designed roof level additions that creatively added much needed additional accommodation.
