This significant and historic town centre building had been neglected and underused for many years. The Cheese Market was purchased from Powys Country Council by a local Community Interest Group with the purpose of restoring the building and putting it to good use.
Following a successful bid for the project Hook Mason were appointed to provide the group with full architectural services. Lottery funding was obtained and a scheme to repair and convert the building was developed. The Cheese Market now forms a focal point to the town , the ground floor of which contains a visitor interpretation centre with a holiday apartment on the first floor.
The project was completed on time and within budget.
